- GNU/Linux — openSUSE, Fedora, Debian. Formerly on ThinkPads, as nature intended; currently on a 2024 MacBook Air 15“ because of work. I have made my peace with this and would prefer not to discuss it further.
- Self-hosting. Mail, RSS, sync, media, and a small collection of services that exist mainly so that they can be administered. The uptime is respectable. The documentation is aspirational.
- Indian cuisine. Dosa (the South Indian savoury crisp pancake, with its accompanying condiments), thayir sadam (curd rice), and laal maas, the Rajasthani red mutton curry that separates the committed from the curious.
- Hosting guests from abroad. Over the years: Israel, Iran, Russia, Turkey, India, Austria, France, Slovakia, Italy. The dinner table has survived every combination attempted so far.
- Music, a great deal of it, though my last.fm has not been a reliable witness for some years now.

Supplied unprompted by a friend, and reproduced here without editing, on the grounds that it is more informative than anything I would write about myself:
I noticed Felix in particular because of his unsurpassed “verbal acrobatics”. Felix is a master of “dark humour” in its purest form, which is neither common here nor understandable for everyone and certainly not accepted universally. This humour is sometimes problematic, completely politically incorrect, offensive, very intelligent, sarcastic, morbid and macabre, ambiguous, on the border of good taste — and borders can be moved, as we know — always ironic and of course, as is inherent in humour, never serious.
Even as a teenager, Felix was interested in politics. He has always dared to express his views provocatively if necessary, but never without reflection. Even before his marriage to a native Indian, he and his family hosted and looked after foreign students for years.
Felix is indeed “special” in many ways. For me, he also falls a bit into the category of “analytical nerd”. He therefore does not always have a pronounced empathic behaviour, and here too caution is advised against misclassification, because this in turn is paired with a great deal of caring and helpfulness.
